Kia ora to all our parents. Just a few panui regarding the next 2-3 weeks ahead prior to the completion of kura.
Kura Reo (Postponed)
Kura Reo has been postponed through to Wk1/Wk2 next term. We have many events occuring in the next few weeks and needed to ensure that we were organised. Sorry if this has caused any inconvenience.
Taumahekeheke mo nga Kura Kaupapa Maori ki Te Hiku
Next week we have invited Pukemiro and Whangaroa to our Taumahekeheke Day 2nd Tikakamuturangi 2009. This will involve Swimming and Athletic/Tabloids. We are wanting to use this day as a fundraiser and we NEED awhi from parents to assist us with the fundraising activities we have: Sausage Sizzle, Inu, Aihi Paraka, Keke, Kapu Ti.
A panui will be sent home over the next few days. Please support us to support your tamariki.
Easter Raffle
A panui went home today, asking for non perishable items. Please support ano te kura in our ventures to raise funds for the whole kura. It helps us to fund our classroom hekenga.
Bike Raffle
The Bike Raffle tickets will be ready to go on sale - Thursday - I will be handing out 10 tickets to each of our students to sell. All our kids are really keen to buy all tickets but can you please tell them to sell some to other whanau if they are able. This will be helping directly towards our next planned hekenga.
Hangarau ki Kaitaia Intermediate
Our kids travel to Kaitaia Intermediate tomorrow. Can we please ensure that they have correct footwear for this. I have already stood down two tamariki for not bringing footwear.
Aku Mahi Rangatira
On Wednesday 8th Tikakamuturangi 2009, it has been planned that we will hold the first of our Aku Mahi Rangatira nights. It is compulsory for all whanau to be a part of this. The students will be working hard over the next two weeks to prepare. Please do not let their hard work go in vain. I have seen some huge shifts especially in the way our students treat their bookwork.
Friday TE HIKU RADIO - 1:40pm
Please tune in, to Te Hiku Radio every Friday afternoon if you are able. Already, a panui was blogged re this kaupapa - we would love all whanau to listen to our tamariki. It really is a positive step by kura and we thank Papa Ikanui for giving our tamariki the 'air time' to make this happen.
EASTER and ANZAC
I realise that Easter and Anzac Day fall in the holidays - but can all whanau please spend time with our tamariki expressing the importance of these days to our tamariki whether you believe in them, or whether you don't. Our kids must know that there is a purpose for everything, and that these days do have special significance, other then being a holiday.
I'll be going to the Anzac Day Celebrations Dawn Ceremony in Kaitaia and have been to Dawn Ceremonies since I can remember. It's important to show respect to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice - their lives.
